My name is Ashley Youngblood. I was born and raised in Albany, Georgia. I am currently living in Mobile,
Alabama - I absolutely love it here!
I am a graduate of Auburn University, where I received a B.A. in Psychology. My parents are both educators.
My mother has taught 1st grade for thirty years. My father has held many roles within the Dougherty County School System
in Albany, GA. He has been a teacher, assistant principal, principal, and just recently retired from his position as
the Director of Federal Programs/School Improvement and the Director of Information and Technology.
I believe that I have received these "education genes" from my parents. In January of 2007, I decided to go back
to school in pursuit of a degree in education. I recently graduated from the University of South Alabama in December
of 2009, where I received an Alternative Master's degree in Elementary Education. I completed my student teaching semester
at Nan Gray Davis Elementary School, in the 1st grade. I have also completed practicum experiences in the 2nd and 5th
grades at other schools within the Mobile County Public School System.
I am looking forward to having my own classroom and teaching children in grades K-6. After a few years of teaching, I
hope to continue my education in order to become a school counselor or possibly an administrator. Throughout the master's
program at the University of South Alabama, I have truly learned the importance of being a "lifelong learner."
Outside of teaching, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, playing tennis, cheering on the Auburn Tigers, and
going to the beach.
